McCurdy, retired from the United States Army, has an extensive history with and love for the Aviation Industry; he founded NCI on the beliefs that an education geared directly to an area of concentration for career success is the best education one could have.
(J) North Central Institute is a privately owned institute located in North Clarksville, Tennessee, directly across from Fort Campbell, Kentucky. In 1997, NCI built a 25,000 square foot facility located across from Gate 1 on Jack Miller Blvd. Facilities are accessible by the handicapped. North Central Junior College was established in 1988 in Clarksville and changed its name to North Central Institute in October of 1990.

North Central Institute is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Council on Occupational Education (COE), 41 Perimeter Center East NE, Suite 640, Atlanta GA 30346; Phone (770) 396-3898. NCI has been reaffirmed through the year 2009. Accreditations, Approvals, Authorizations and Licenses may be viewed in the Admissions Office during business hours.
AUTHORIZATION STATEMENT
North Central Institute is a non-denominational, privately owned, co-educational school of aviation which operates by the authorization of the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. The authorization must be renewed each year and is based on an evaluation by minimum standards concerning quality of education, ethical business practices, health and safety, and fiscal responsibility.
CERTIFICATIONS
North Central Institute's Aviation Maintenance Technician Part 147 Program is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration under Part 147 of the Federal Aviation Regulation and holds Air Agency Certificate #N4IT070K.
AVIATION mAINTENANCE tECHNOLOGY pROGRAM (Part 147)
An Aviation Maintenance Technician, often called an "A&P", is charged with the responsibility to maintain aircraft (airplane/rotor craft) in a safe condition for flight. They are the technicians certified by the Federal Aviation Administration to work for the airlines, in general aviation, for aircraft manufacturers, for aerospace companies, and the government. The skills and knowledge gained from the program are applicable to other maintenance industries and professions as well as aviation.
PART-65 AVIATION MAINTENANCE TECHNOLOGY
The objective of the Part 65 AMT program is to provide students who meet the Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 65 eligibility and experience requirements with the knowledge and skills needed to pass the Federal Aviation Administration Examinations (FAA) and the corresponding Oral and Practical. The course primarily pertains to theory and concepts of Airframe and Powerplant maintenance and the requirements in maintaining aircraft in airworthy condition.

FCC-100 GENERAL RADIOTELEPHONE OPERATOR (Elements 1 & 3)
A study of the basic essentials covering Code of Federal Rules and Regulations, basic electricity, direct/alternating current, transformers, motors & generators, semiconductors, power supplies, digital circuitry measurements, AM/FM receivers, transmitters, emission/frequency ranges, antennas, effective radiated power, UHF, avionics, and more.
FCC-105 GENERAL RADIOTELEPHONE OPERATOR with RADAR ENDORSEMENT (Elements 1, 3 & 8)
A study of the basic essentials involving maritime rules and regulations, including basic radio definitions, operational procedures, priority of communications, antenna requirements, stations logs, inspections, and other basic items. Element 3 consists of electronics, radio and antenna fundamentals, which includes radio practices, electrical principles, circuit components, practical circuits, signals and emissions, antennas and feed lines, and radio wave propagation. Element 8 covers FCC rules and Regulations pertaining to radar stations, introduction to radar, radar equations, radar ranges and their corresponding time intervals, radar transmitters and receivers, automatic frequency control (AFC), mixer stages, IF amplifier stages, discriminators, magnetrons, klystrons, traveling wave tubes (TWT), waveguides, radar antennas, duplexers and calculators, the echo box, the plan position indicator (PPI), pulsed radar, navigational radar systems, the Doppler effect and the CW radar system, radar interference, and radar unit operation and maintenance.
